Overview

The focus of this program will be diabetes management in the hospitalized patient. The virtual provision of the program is intended to facilitate accessibility of the content to Network nursing staff, pharmacists, & dietitians, as well as nursing program faculty & staff. The format will primarily be lectures, with opportunities for participants to engage using interactive software. In-person offering(s) provide an opportunity for those who learn more effectively in a classroom setting to receive the content in an environment conducive to their learning style.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Recognize the current state of diabetes & describe the importance of evidence based glycemic control to minimizing hypoglycemia & hyperglycemia.
  2. Recognize the current state of diabetes & describe the importance of evidence based glycemic control to minimizing hypoglycemia & hyperglycemia. Identify key patient education & skills needed for a safe transition at discharge.
  3. Apply basal/bolus glycemic control principles & protocols designed to achieve glycemic targets.
  4. Identify key patient education & skills needed for a safe transition at discharge. Apply evidence-based strategies to safely achieve glycemic control in special inpatient circumstances.

Accreditation

Lehigh Valley Health Network is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Completion Criteria: Registered Nurses attending the entire program will receive 4.5 Contact Hour(s).
