2026 Ethics Symposium: Narrative Ethics

This conference will provide interdisciplinary education that focuses on narrative ethics. Through lecture, group discussions, and case studies, learners will explore the role of storytelling in ethical discourse, and learn to center patient narratives at the forefront of discernment in crafting ethical plans of care and an ethical professional practice.

1. Understand common paradigms for analyzing challenging ethical problems in clinical practice.
2. Define narrative ethics and its role in the clinical environment.
3. Discuss several cases in which narrative perspective was pivotal to a comprehensive understanding of the ethical problem and helped to pave a path forward.
4. Apply principles of narrative ethics to a real-world case in an interprofessional setting.
5. Practice drawing out salient features from a story of one’s own to highlight ethical concepts and illustrate the power of stories to communicate needs and concerns.
6. Understand how narrative ethics concepts are used in various fields of interprofessional practice.

Cancellation Policy

Refunds, minus a $10 administrative fee, will be granted up to one week prior to the registration deadline. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to [email protected].
