Neurology for the Non-Neurologist

This 2-night continuing education event is designed to provide Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers and other healthcare professionals with expanded knowledge of neurological diseases and disorders, including symptom recognition, treatment identification, and initiation of neurological referral where appropriate. Night 1 focuses on Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Headache, and Multiple Sclerosis. Night 2 focuses on Stroke, Seizure, Weakness and Numbness, and Autoimmune Encephalopathy-ParaNeoplastic.

1. Discuss clinical recognition of dementia, diagnostic strategies and standard treatment options.
2. Identify clinical diagnosis criteria, discuss treatment options and summarize key benefits of Physical Therapy.
3. Identify and differentiate common primary headaches.
4. Summarize the four main components of the McDonald Criteria
5. Describe the clinical approach and treatment to acute neurological events
6. Discuss diagnostic strategies and treatment options for seizure patients
7. Describe peripheral nervous system disorders
8. Identify AutoImmune Encephalopathy and Paraneoplastic Syndromes

1. 75% of participants will respond that they will be able to apply new knowledge to their clinical role on the post evaluation. (Knowledge)

Lehigh Valley Health Network is accredited by the Pennsylvania Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  Lehigh Valley Health Network designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)^TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the educational activity.

Lehigh Valley Health Network is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Completion Criteria: Registered Nurses attending the entire program will receive 7 Contact Hour(s).

Lehigh Valley Hospital Pharmacy Department is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing education.  Pharmacists attending the full program on Day 1 and completing an evaluation will earn 4 contact hours (0.4 CEU). Pharmacists attending the full program on Day 2 and completing an evaluation will earn 3 contact hours (0.3 CEU). Data will be uploaded to CPE Monitor within 4-6 weeks following the program for participants who complete this activity and submit required participant information including evaluation, NABP e-Profile ID and DOB. This is a knowledge-based activity. ACPE Universal Activity Numbers (UANs): 0545-0000-26-015-L01-P (Day 1) and 0545-0000-26-016-L01-P (Day 2).

Exhibitor Displays

• Lehigh Valley Health Network permits vendors to display exhibits in an area separate from the meeting/education room. Vendor space consists of one 6-foot table. Due to limited space, vendors are allowed a maximum of two attendees at each program. Table covering, extension cords and all other incidentals are the vendor’s responsibility. As space is limited, advanced reservation is required, and no walk-ins are permitted.

• Payment must be made prior to the event by credit card using our website. No refunds are given unless the event is cancelled by LVHN.

• Exhibits may only contain information pertaining to the topic(s) being discussed at the above-mentioned program. Pharmaceutical material/information may be displayed provided the medications are contained in the hospital’s formulary. All exhibit information (display, brochures, giveaways, etc.) must be reviewed by the LVHN Pharmacy no later than three (3) weeks prior to the program date for approval. Please call the Pharmacy Administration Office at 610-402-8881 to arrange for this review.
