This conference will provide interdisciplinary education that focuses on narrative ethics. Through lecture, group discussions, and case studies, learners will explore the role of storytelling in ethical discourse, and learn to center patient narratives at the forefront of discernment in crafting ethical plans of care and an ethical professional practice.

Residents will present unique clinical cases and then provide a review of the literature based on the clinical case related to psychiatry.

The goals of these presentations are to build upon the base knowledge of these Master’s Level Therapists/Social Workers and increase their understanding of interventions/strategies used within behavioral health. Topics will vary throughout the year.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week group program that teaches participants to practice mindfulness. Designed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center 40+ years ago and extensively researched, this work has generated a body of literature in both scientific and popular publications which describes its many benefits.

To provide education across the network’s inpatient care management department with the aim of enriching knowledge to improve clinical practice during daily performance.

This activity focuses on reviewing inpatient cases that are related to making critical decisions throughout life and cases that impact children and families.

The interactive lecture series allows for the presentation of recent healthcare topics by a member of the healthcare community, which engages the learners to deepen their knowledge on a current and relevant topic. The Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds presentations will focus on various topics of interest gleaned from participant feedback taken from the annual departmental Educational Needs Survey or other areas of need if presented during the year.
