Overview
The purpose of the activity is to provide an evidence based update on a variety of common pulmonary disorders that primary care clinicians will experience in their day to day practice.

ACCME Objectives
  1. The learner should be able to diagnose and begin testing and treatment for common pulmonary problems including: COPD, asthma, sleep apnea and pulmonary nodules.
  2. The learner should be able to evaluate lung nodules using current clinical guidelines.
  3. Describe key updates in current PE guidelines and apply them to clinical decision making including risk assessment and treatment selection.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to evaluate patients with suspected ILD and determine appropriate diagnostic pathways based on current clinical guidelines.
  5. Identify newer pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment options for COPD
  6. Identify key diagnostic criteria for asthma including history, spirometry, symptom patterns, and select appropriate stepwise treatment strategies
  7. Evaluate and manage patients with sleep apnea using a guidelinebased approach

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. At the end of the conference 90% of the learners should be able to recognize the newest guidelines for the diagnosis and management of common pulmonary conditions and feel comfortable applying these in clinical practice.

ACPE Pharmacist Objectives
  1. Describe key updates in current PE guidelines and apply them to clinical decision-making including risk assessment and treatment selection.
  2. Identify newer pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment options for COPD.
  3. Identify key diagnostic criteria for asthma including history, spirometry, symptom patterns, and select appropriate stepwise treatment strategies.

AOA Objectives
  1. The learner should feel comfortable with the initial diagnosis and management of common pulmonary diseases including proper testing and initial therapy.

Accreditation

Lehigh Valley Health Network is accredited by the Pennsylvania Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  Lehigh Valley Health Network designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the educational activity.

Lehigh Valley Health Network is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Completion Criteria: Registered Nurses attending the entire program will receive 6.0 Contact Hour(s).

Lehigh Valley Hospital Pharmacy Department is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing education. Pharmacists attending the entire program and completing a program evaluation will earn 3 contact hours (0.3 CEU) of continuing education credit. Data will be uploaded to CPE Monitor within 4-6 weeks following the program for participants who complete this activity and submit required participant information including evaluation, NABP e-Profile ID, and DOB.
