This symposium provides expert-led education in Infectious Diseases and Infection Prevention, equipping healthcare professionals with practical, evidence-based insights that can be applied in practice. Lehigh Valley Health Network is accredited by the Pennsylvania Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  Lehigh Valley Health Network designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the educational activity.

Lehigh Valley Health Network is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Completion Criteria: Registered Nurses attending the entire program will receive 6 Contact Hour(s).

Lehigh Valley Hospital Pharmacy Department is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing education.  Pharmacists attending the full symposium and completing a program evaluation will earn 6.0 contact hours (0.6 CEU) of continuing education credit.  Data will be updated to CPE Monitor within 4-6 weeks following the program for participants who complete this activity and submit required participant information including evaluation, NABP e-Profile ID and DOB. Refunds, minus a $10 administrative fee, will be granted up to one week prior to the registration deadline. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to [email protected].

Science, Community, and Political Will: Case Studies in Public Health Response

Dr. Daskalakis will frame implementable science, community co-creation, and generation and maintenance of political will as the key elements needed for public health responses regardless of their acuity.  Examples will range from HIV to bird flu and will highlight the importance of alignment, the role of public health and the opportunities to build the next iteration of effective public health.

Antibiotic overuse is widely recognized as a major driver of increasing antimicrobial resistance, but impacts on individual patients are less commonly appreciated. Antimicrobial stewardship interventions targeting prescribing practices have been beneficial, but resistance rates and patient adverse effects continue to increase. i. Dr. Sachinwalla will provide an overview of diagnostic stewardship interventions which can impact clinical decision making upstream of prescribing decisions and may be an additional lever that can reduce inappropriate antimicrobial use and improve quality of care delivery.

Exhibitor Displays

  • Lehigh Valley Health Network permits vendors to display exhibits in an area separate from the meeting/education room. Vendor space consists of one 6-foot table. Due to limited space, vendors are allowed a maximum of two attendees at each program. Table covering, extension cords and all other incidentals are the vendor’s responsibility. As space is limited, advanced reservation is required, and no walk-ins are permitted.

  • Payment must be made prior to the event by credit card using our website. No refunds are given unless the event is cancelled by LVHN.

  • Exhibits may only contain information pertaining to the topic(s) being discussed at the above-mentioned program. Pharmaceutical material/information may be displayed provided the medications are contained in the hospital’s formulary. All exhibit information (display, brochures, giveaways, etc.) must be reviewed by the LVHN Pharmacy no later than three (3) weeks prior to the program date for approval. Please call the Pharmacy Administration Office at 610-402-8881 to arrange for this review.
